Hanging a radiator is properly a half-day job done right: drain the system at the right point, lift the old unit cleanly, mark and drill new brackets to the stud or fixings that will actually hold, swap valves while you're under there, refill, dose with fresh inhibitor, balance the system. £180 like-for-like supply and fit; new towel rail with TRV from £260; full TRV upgrade across the whole house from £350.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Survey & sizing

    Quick check the wall fixings, the existing valve type, pipe-centres and BTU output you need for the room. We'll suggest a like-for-like or an upgrade to a higher-output panel if the room runs cold.

  2. Step 2

    Drain & lift

    Drain off enough water for the level of work, isolate at the valves, lift the old radiator carefully (some weigh 30kg+ when full of sludge).

  3. Step 3

    Hang & connect

    New brackets fixed to studs or solid wall, radiator hung level, new valves (TRV + lockshield) fitted with PTFE and jointing compound — no leaks first time.

  4. Step 4

    Refill, inhibit, balance

    System refilled, dosed with Sentinel X100 inhibitor, vented through, lockshield-balanced so every rad in the house gets even flow.

FAQs

Do you supply the radiator or do I?

Either. We carry quality mid-range Stelrad and Quinn panels and chrome towel rails on the van — or we'll happily fit yours for the labour rate only. Just don't buy a cheap eBay rad that won't hold pressure.

What about a new towel rail in the bathroom?

From £260 fitted including a quality chrome ladder rail, TRV and lockshield, system drained, refilled and re-inhibited. Add £80 if we need to re-route copper to reposition.

Should I upgrade all my TRVs at once?

Yes if they're 20+ years old or stuck. Old TRV heads seize internally and stop modulating, your boiler over-fires, your gas bill creeps up. From £350 for a whole-house upgrade on 8 rads or fewer.
