Most drain defects can be patch-lined. A few cannot — full collapses, severe deformation, back-falls and broken bends need digging out and re-laying. We CCTV survey first to be certain, then excavate, lay new run to fall, backfill in lifts to compaction, and reinstate the surface to a finish that matches what was there.

How it works
- Step 1
CCTV survey
Confirm the defect cannot be patched. Mark up the dig footprint and locate utility services with CAT4 scanner first.
- Step 2
Excavate
Lift the surface, dig down to bed level, full risk assessment for shoring on deeper runs (>1.2m).
- Step 3
Re-lay to fall
New 100mm or 150mm pipe laid to 1:40 fall on pea shingle bed, mechanical joints, new rest bends if needed.
- Step 4
Backfill & reinstate
Pea shingle surround, granular backfill in lifts to compaction, surface reinstated to match — slabs relaid, tarmac re-laid, concrete poured.

Can you reinstate my block-paving driveway?
Yes. We lift carefully, store the blocks, re-lay them on fresh sharp sand and brush jointing compound through. You won't spot the join.
How long does a typical drain dig take?
Most domestic dig-and-relays are one to two days on-site, plus a third day if the surface reinstatement is concrete or tarmac that needs to cure.
Do I need Building Control?
If we're altering layout, adding new connections to public sewer, or changing the drainage strategy — yes, and we'll arrange it. A like-for-like replacement of a failed section usually does not.
